They say revenge is a dish best served cold, and on Thursday night it came in the form of a Thanksgiving Day turkey with a side of sweet potatoes.

The final match in NFL's triple bill of Thanksgiving Day action saw the Seattle Seahawks host the San Francisco 49ers.

It was the first time in nine years that the two NFC rivals had gone head-to-head on the American public holiday.

The 2014 meeting resulted in a 19-3 win for Seattle as the Richard Sherman and the 'Legion of Boom' beat the 49ers on their own turf.

After the game, Sherman and former Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson infuriated 49ers fans by feasting on turkey live on TV.

To add insult to injury, the impromptu Thanksgiving meal took place on a table placed over San Francisco's logo at Levi's Stadium.

They had to wait almost a decade, but the 49ers finally got their sweet revenge after a one-sided 31-13 win over the Seahawks in Seattle last night.

49ers stars George Kittle, Christian McCaffrey, Nick Bosa, Brock Purdy and Fred Warner all joined NBC Sports' Melissa Stark to recreate the notorious moment.

The quintet wasted no time in tucking into the generous Thanksgiving platter.

While San Francisco's stars enjoyed their feast, the sight of their players avenging the 2014 humiliation was even sweeter for the 49er Faithful.

One proud fan wrote on X: "I’m not trying to be over dramatic here, but when the Seahawks christened Levi’s Stadium by beating the 49ers and eating turkey at midfield, it was a moment that’s haunted a lot of 49ers fans for years. Tonight felt like that weight was lifted."

Another wrote: "I hope the 49ers enjoy those turkey legs right on the Seahawks logo. We haven't forgotten the disrespect."

Kittle then proceeded to whisk the turkey away from the NBC set before distributing it to 49ers fans in attendance.

McCaffrey, who scored two touchdowns on the night, gave a hilariously detailed review of the post-game meal .

He told reporters: "It was actually really good turkey. I have no idea how they kept all the dishes hot.

"I was just bummed I didn't get any sweet potato with the marshmallow but the turkey was really good, well cooked, wasn't dry at all.

"I was just happy we got some food after that [game]. It was a satisfying turkey."

49ers QB Purdy added the moment was one he and his teammates would "look back on and smile".

"It was sweet," said Purdy, who completed 21 of 30 passes for 209 yards with one touchdown.
